Battle of the Books is a program for 4th and 5th grade students where they read books from a list selected by the North Carolina State Library Media Association and then compete against other elementary schools by answering questions about the books.

Hawk Eye has a great robotics program. This year, students will compete not only the annual Hoke County district competition, but also at a state competition sponsored by Vex. Students work to construct, program and operate robots to complete different tasks. 3rd, 4th and 5th grade students are nominated by their homeroom teachers and then selected by the robotics coaches to participate in the program. Some of the selection critera includes: behavior, aptitude, interest and diligence. 

BETA Club is designed to promote the ideals of academic achievement, character, service and leadership among elementary and secondary school students. At Hawk Eye, 4th and 5th grade students are nominated by their homeroom teacher to participate in the club. Students work on service projects, activities and can even participate in competitions.
